her name's emerson, which i love. i have a soft spot in my heart for completely androgynous names, with jordan quinn and all. especially girls. i love them more already. i headed over to the little one's home in wicker park two weeks ago with a couple of props, anxious to see what we'd come up with. hanging with and photographing babes is always like a box of chocolates- you never know what you're gonna get. they can be tired, hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable, etc and any one of these feelings leaves them uncooperative.
emerson was an angel. she sat pretty. she played pretty. she read pretty. most of all, she laughed a whole lot at her mom who was directly behind me the whole time, singing songs and making raspberry noises and doing all the things she had in her bag of tricks to make her daughter come to life. i was so grateful to both of them for such a fun couple of hours and the chance to celebrate with emerson on her very first birthday. here's some of the magic we made that day.
