megan's the type of bride every photographer dreams of working with. she's cool as a cucumber, laid-back, does her research ahead of time, knows what she wants, and just goes for it, no fuss. the girl has impeccable style too, so there's that. when she booked me, we didn't even meet. we chatted on the phone, emailed back and forth a bit, and she was like "that's it, i want you. done." it's emails like that that make me swear there's such a thing as fate. her and michael's story began while they were both in grad school, on a trip abroad. it wasn't until months later that they started dating, but the moment they met on the great wall of china shaped their lives forever. the shot of megan's engagement ring amongst a bunch of other aluminum ones was a tribute to how michael proposed. he asked megan to marry him and then every other guy in the bar came up to her to ask her to marry him. so fun and unique! their favor boxes with the floral detail made out of old books was a symbol of their meeting while the two were students. megan's most important details of the day were the pearls and watch she wore, both from her grandmother's wedding day...and her grandmother's mother's wedding day. i love traditions like that. they only add to the heritage of the day and the richness of the joining of two lives.
megan and michael's day was magical, golden, fun, classic, and pure chicago. the famous rookery was the site of their celebration and i knew it was beautiful, but it absolutely took my breath away when set up for a wedding. it's the type of venue you don't load with details, because the architecture speaks for itself. it stands alone and all of the gold accents throughout the building gave megan and michael's wedding a fairytale background that could not have been more of a treat to shoot in.
p.s. best bridal party ever. i was getting in a cab to go home at the end of the night and they come running out just to shout, "we love you jordan!" you kids were the best. thanks for rocking it so hard!
